Birds

Did you ever see the Hitchcock movie The Birds. Me neither. But I have a yard full of swallows that makes me think of it.
The mix is barn, tree and bank swallows.

Every year the swallows from this area suddenly gather in my yard. I suppose it is the old seldom used barn and all the wires since an electrical line goes around our yard on the west and the north. Also we have a couple of unused wired that run from our yard light pole to the barn. So we have the perching area needed. This is what happens. It has been this way for about a week and then one day I will go outside and it will be empty and still.

I enjoy it while I can although the car doesn't look good at all.
Love,
Nancy

  1. That looks like a noisy wire all right. I was wondering if I can post sound files in the blog the way we post pictures, because every morning a murder of crows has a big party in our neighborhood. Then all at once the dogs start going (there are about 12 dogs within a 8-house block area) and we have a big wake-up call. Now, I wonder where I packed that digital sound recorder....

  2. Hey...I DID see Hitchcock's The Birds. You didn't? Next year when all the birds are around, you should rent it (or borrow it from your local library). Ooooo, it will be a shivery experience.

  3. Maybe I can do that. Jim is the big renter in our family and he will only rent them if he can go back to Mayville the next day (for some other reason) and not have to make a special trip to drop them off.
It is about 2 gallons of gas to Mayville and back for us.

  4. Some libraries are experimenting with delivery of "materials" (makes it sound a little pornographic) right to the home. A bookmobile would also be nice....
