Fall leaves and Spring Bulbs

Hi Mary and Jeni,
I took this picture of Monica's tree out my bedroom window.   It is just beautiful this year.
Leaves on Monica's Maple Tree.
I ordered a few (only 300) crocus bulbs from Brent and Becky's Bulbs.   Love that place!  It is where I ordered my tulips at the farm.   I missed the tulips this year because I was here with the parents.
crocus chrys. 'Advance"
crocus tomm. 'Ruby Giant"
Jon came over at my request on Sunday and we planted the 200 crocus tomm. 'Ruby Giant' and 100 crocus chrys.  'Advance'.   About 200 went in the front lawn and 100 in the back.   Hope the squirrels don't eat them all up.

Is it Spring yet?

Love,
Nancy

Photo Hotdish

Hi there Mary,
I have been taking pictures but not posting and now I have to put up one of those posts with no focus at all. It is like a hotdish. A whole bunch of unrelated stuff that you like individually and you hope it tastes good when you mix it all together.
Here goes...
Ah yes, my forsythia bush is blooming nicely this year.
And I got back in time to see some of my crocus blooming this year. Crocus were really not a good idea for someone who doesn't return until the third week of April. I usually miss them. Of course the day I chose to photograph them it snowed.
We have a couple of Canada geese who are trying to take over our yard. Several times a day they fly in and make a lot of noise. This day they decided to get an overview of the yard and the slough to the west so they landed on the old barn and yelled at friends in the slough from there.
Yes it was windy that day.

Yesterday there was a full moon on my way back from quilt club.
Oh! My tulips are starting to look like they might bloom one day. Hope springs eternal and all that.
Love,
Nancy

Still not spring, but my new Martin house is ready!

It is the 26th of April and it is colder than a well diggers ass. I think that is from a Tom Waits song; either that or a Danny O'Keefe one. Anyway I thought I would send you these pictures taken this morning. Above is my brand new purple martin house.
This one is a male White Throated Sparrow in breeding plumage. I had to go out early and put out some more thistle seed and some sunnies for them. Note the junco in the second picture?
And these are my fish, huddled together in the pond. All in all we could use a break in the weather.
On the good side I have seen 6 crocus so far this 'spring'. Usually they are all gone before we get here. Since I planted nearly 200 and never see them it is a welcome change, even with the snow.
Wow, two of them close together! Mostly it is one every 6 feet or so.
Love,

Nancy
